The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B with onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is one of the latest additions to the Raspberry Pi lineup available on Robu.in. As the third-generation model, it retains the familiar board layout of earlier Raspberry Pi versions while introducing a faster 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core SoC along with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
Equipped with 1GB RAM, the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B delivers enhanced performance and improved multitasking. The biggest upgrades include the next-generation Broadcom BCM2837 ARMv8 processor, offering speeds up to 1.2GHz—significantly faster than the 900MHz processor in the Raspberry Pi 2—and the addition of a built-in BCM43143 Wi-Fi module. This eliminates the need for external Wi-Fi dongles and makes the board more suitable for IoT applications, assisted further by native Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) support.
Backward Compatibility:
The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B maintains the same physical layout as the previous Model 2/B+, ensuring compatibility with most accessories. However, due to the addition of the onboard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna, the activity (ACT) and power (PWR) LEDs have been relocated to the opposite side of the microSD slot. Cases with LED light pipes designed for Model 2/B+ will still fit, but the light pipes may no longer align perfectly with the LEDs.
